I'm not really sure what I'm so afraid of but I think I might start posting my more generic, non personal/life stuff as un-locked posts. <br /><br /><div align="center"> ......................................<br /></div><br />Yesterday I made my very first door wreath. I wanted something to hang in the summer months - and when I think of summer I think of bugs! :) I love most bugs/insects - I find them fascinating. The only bugs I don't like are the biting ones like mozzies and the dirty annoying household ones like roaches. Anyway, so I wanted my wreath to be a tribute to some of the wonderful insects that come out in the summer months to make this time of year just that little bit more magical.<br /><br /><u><i>Here's a list of what I started with and costs:</i></u><br />Plain willow wreath - $3.98<br />2 stems of very plain flowers - $4.08<br />1 stem of small yellow flowers - $1.98<br />Bag of Moss - $4.99<br />Florist wire - $1.99<br />Lady birds - $1.99<br />Birds - $1.99<br />Bird house - $2.27<br />Butterflies - $1.99<br /><b>TOTAL COST: Lots of fun, oh and $25.26</b> (less if you take into account I have stuff left over for other projects)<br />Everything else (the dragon flies, the glue and gun) I already owned.<br /><br /> <br /><a name="cutid1"></a><div class="ljcut" text="Big pictures of the construction under cut!">I started with a plain willow wreath and attached two idential but plain stems of flowers around the outside with florist wire in various spots.&nbsp; <img alt="" src="http://pics.livejournal.com/voyageofdreams/pic/000bcsaa" /><br />Next I glued on some small yellow flowers I cut from another flower stem to the plain floral sprigs already wired to the wreath to add colour and tie in some of the bugs I wanted to include later. <br /><img alt="" src="http://pics.livejournal.com/voyageofdreams/pic/000bd51h" /><br />I attached on a small bird house with wire (I later cut off the ugly flowers that were attached below it)<br /><img alt="" src="http://pics.livejournal.com/voyageofdreams/pic/000ber2r" /><br />Glued on moss at random points<br /><img alt="" src="http://pics.livejournal.com/voyageofdreams/pic/000bfyex" /><br />Finally I attached some small birds, a couple of butterflies, dragonflies and a scattering of ladybirds with floral wire in and around the flowers and moss.<br /><img alt="" src="http://pics.livejournal.com/voyageofdreams/pic/000bhbrt" /><br /><img alt="" src="http://pics.livejournal.com/voyageofdreams/pic/000bge5w" /><br /><br />Finally - my completed summer time door wreath<br /><img alt="" src="http://pics.livejournal.com/voyageofdreams/pic/000bky3x" /><br />I'm very happy with how it turned out!&nbsp; I didn't want it to look too much like Spring (which is my next project -I plan on using just tons of big blooms) hence why its not to florally.</div> http://voyageofdreams.livejournal.com/51633.html pleased public http://voyageofdreams.livejournal.com/33879.html Thu, 28 Feb 2008 21:00:55 GMT http://voyageofdreams.livejournal.com/33879.html Anyone???<br /><br />I am totally addicted. http://voyageofdreams.livejournal.com/33879.html dorky public
